Welcome to the latest edition of HHK’s blog series dedicated to giving you up close and personal insight of the people behind our one hundred twenty-two year old institution.  The individuals we spotlight have dedicated themselves to continuing Koch, Neuman Lawfirm’s motto … providing Peace of Mind Since 1901.

Harrison Zipper is Special Counsel with Koch, Neuman Lawfirm in our Boynton Beach office and is a member of HHK’s Trust & Estates Practice Group.  Harrison received his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and went on to receive his law degree from University of Miami School of Law.  Harrison’s practice focuses primarily on estate planning, asset protection, estate administration, probate and real estate transaction. He also counsels high-net worth individuals and family offices focusing on trust & estate management, real estate matters, and regulatory compliance.

What made you decide to be an attorney?

Prior to embarking on my legal career, I enjoyed about 10 years in the “business world” as an operator and entrepreneur. Over time I realized that I looked forward to working with our attorneys and solving legal issues. When business started slowing down, I took the opportunity to attend law school and haven’t looked back!

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?

Europe…I’ve traveled to several places around the world, but still haven’t made it to anywhere in Europe. I’m dying to try to food, experience the different cultures, and take in the historic architecture. Hopefully I can make this happen in the next year or two.

 Where were you born?

One early winter morning, I was born at the North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York where my dad worked as a resident. However, I was transplanted to Florida at a young age and primarily grew up in the South Florida area.

If you could retire tomorrow, what would you do?

If I could retire tomorrow, I would spend about half my time traveling around the world in a small sailboat with my wife and the other half back at home celebrating life with the rest of my family.

Do you have pets, if so, what? If we asked your pet for a reference, what kind of response would we get?

At home, we have a golden “Cavachon” puppy named Teddy. If you asked him for a reference, he would run up to you and demand attention and scratches. After that ice breaker, he might roll over and ask for a belly rub. Otherwise, he’s quite reserved and doesn’t share much!

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Something in the nuggets from Chick-fil-A is addicting. If I could get my doctor to say it was okay, I would already be eating them every day.

On a scale of 1 to 10 how funny would you say you are?  Would your family and friends agree?

10 on my end. My friends and family would probably say 3.14 because they like pie more than my dad jokes.

– March 8, 2024

Leslie Prechtl Guy has become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in North America.

The induction ceremony at which Leslie Prechtl Guy became a Fellow took place recently before an audience of approximately 625 during the recent Spring Meeting of the College in Phoenix, Arizona.

Founded in 1950, the College is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only and only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers of diverse backgrounds, who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Lawyers must have a minimum of fifteen years trial experience before they can be considered for Fellowship.

Membership in the College cannot exceed one percent of the total lawyer population of any state or province. There are currently approximately 5,800 members in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, including active Fellows, Emeritus Fellows, Judicial Fellows (those who ascended to the bench after their induction) and Honorary Fellows. The College maintains and seeks to improve the standards of trial practice, professionalism, ethics, and the administration of justice through education and public statements on independence of the judiciary, trial by jury, respect for the rule of law, access to justice, and fair and just representation of all parties to legal proceedings. The College is thus able to speak with a balanced voice on important issues affecting the legal profession and the administration of justice.

Leslie Prechtl Guy is a partner of Koch, Neuman Lawfirm LLP and has been practicing in Binghamton for 35 years. The newly inducted Fellow is an alumna (alumnus) of Albany Law School of Union University.
